<p>Are you a fan of Justin Bieber?  An un-fan?  Or simply ignoring the kid, as I was until just a few days ago?</p>
<p>I was exhausted last weekend &#8211; from a week of extending myself too far work-wise, suffering from chemical sensitivity to the cabinets of my new apartment (cabinets refinished 1 year ago) &amp; the gym floor at my pilates class, then the physical exertion of  moving to a different apartment.</p>
<p>A lot for my sensitive, delicate body to take!</p>
<p>So over the weekend, I did a lot of reading, napping and movie-watching.</p>
<p>Justin Bieber&#8217;s story, Never Say Never, was available for instant watching on Netflix, so I watched it.</p>
<h3>Here&#8217;s what I knew about Justin Bieber before watching the movie:</h3>
<ul>
<ul>
<li>Heard him sing Never Say Never with Jade Smith, for the remake of Karate Kid</li>
<li>Knew of him as &#8220;that kid with the hair&#8221;.</li>
<li>Had Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner with two teenager girls who are in love with him</li>
<li>Heard from those girls there&#8217;s an electric toothbrush that plays his songs while you brush</li>
<li>Wasn&#8217;t much impressed with his voice, so never looked deeper</li>
</ul>
</ul>
<div>That&#8217;s not much to know about the biggest teen star on our planet.</div>
<p>But then I saw the movie.  (If you haven&#8217;t seen it &#8211; do it.  The music is totally enjoyable, he&#8217;s wholesome and adorable &#8211; and you may just get inspired like I did)</p>
<h3>This kid&#8217;s amazing!</h3>
<p>Again, I don&#8217;t say that because I&#8217;m in love with his hair . . . or his singing (although I admit I have Baby Baby running through my head right now).</p>
<h3>So what is it about him that won me over?</h3>
<p>Three things:</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>1.  Focus </strong></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>2.  Feeling</strong></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>3.  Foolishness</strong></p>
<h3>Here&#8217;s what I think made 695,228,101 watch his Baby Baby video.</h3>
<p><strong>Focus</strong>.  The kid told his manager he&#8217;d fill Madison Square Garden over a year before he sold it out in 22 minutes. Just watch 15 minutes of his movie and you&#8217;ll get a glimpse of the focus required to do a concert tour like he pulled off.  And you&#8217;ll witness his<strong> focus as a tiny kid</strong> &#8211; learning drums and teaching himself guitar.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s the kind of focus needed to achieve massive goals and I admire that no matter what that age, hair or singing voice.</p>
<p><strong>Feeling</strong>.  He told Ellen DeGeneres, &#8220;I don&#8217;t how not to be adorable.&#8221; (yea, I went from his movie to checking out what else he&#8217;d been up to)</p>
<p>Ya see, that&#8217;s his charm, his adorable-ness.   The kid <strong>knows how to genuinely connect with people</strong>. He clearly loves little kids and babies.  And he IS adorable with them.  He runs up to his old school buddies and hugs them.  He gets off the couch after an exhausting show to hug and thank his staff and family.  The kid looks people in the eye. He&#8217;s a connector.</p>
<p>You can tell he cares about how people feel.</p>
<p><strong>Foolishness</strong>.  I believe this is a necessary quality for success &#8211; the willingness to look and feel foolish.  Basically, the willingness to fail, in front of others.</p>
<p>If you can&#8217;t do that, you can&#8217;t try and learn new things.  You can&#8217;t grow.  Because you can&#8217;t take risks.</p>
<p>Bieber&#8217;s going all out &#8211; <strong>not afraid to look foolish or act foolish</strong>.  This is an absolute requirement for performing, dancing and singing full (fool!) out. Watching him perform in front of a live audience, you can tell he&#8217;s <strong>giving you all he&#8217;s got</strong>.</p>
<p>The message to other kids is &#8220;<em><strong>Go for it!</strong></em>&#8216;  &#8220;<em><strong>Don&#8217;t be afraid to be yourself and risk looking foolish</strong></em>.&#8221;  &#8220;<em><strong>You can do it!</strong></em>&#8221;</p>
<p>Another side of the fool is the prankster.  He <strong>likes to play tricks on people</strong> and get everybody laughing.  Again &#8211; not afraid to play the fool, live life all out.</p>
<h3>So how can we apply lessons from Justin Bieber to our lives?</h3>

<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>Even though I don&#8217;t always have the courage to be foolish, I accept myself anyway. </em></p>

<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Eye:  </strong>I don&#8217;t have the focus it takes to make big goals</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Nose:  </strong>Sustained focus is hard for me.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Chin:  </strong>Focus takes work</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Collarbone:  </strong>Focus takes energy</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Arm:  </strong>I don&#8217;t know if I&#8217;m willing to work that hard.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Top of Head:  </strong>To expend that much energy.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Eyebrow:  </strong>And I don&#8217;t like feeling too much.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Side of Eye:  </strong>Feelings can be painful.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Eye:  </strong>It&#8217;s not easy to keep a feeling connection with others.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Nose:  </strong>That opens me up to getting hurt.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Chin:  </strong>Staying connected takes a lot of energy.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Collarbone:  </strong>I&#8217;m not sure I have it.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Arm:  </strong>And foolishness</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Top of Head:  </strong>Why would I want to be foolish?</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Eyebrow:  </strong>Make a fool of myself?</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Side of Eye:  </strong>That&#8217;s just silly.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Eye:  </strong>No point in being foolish.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Nose:  </strong>But I might want to achieve things I haven&#8217;t yet</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Chin:  </strong>I might want to live a bigger life, stretch a bit</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Collarbone:  </strong>And in the process, I could fail and look foolish</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Arm:  </strong>Feel like a fool.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Top of Head:  </strong>It&#8217;s not worth it.  I&#8217;m not ready to focus, feel and look foolish.</em></p>
<p>Take a nice deep breath</p>
<p><strong>Tapping again:</strong></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Eyebrow:  </strong>Well, what if I could actually learn something from Justin Bieber?</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Side of Eye:  </strong>What if he could teach me something?</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Eye:  </strong>I like the idea of learning, growing and becoming more alive, awake, whole</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Nose:  </strong>What if I could be a little more focused?</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Chin:  </strong>What if I could have a little of that kid&#8217;s focus?</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Collarbone:  </strong>What if I could borrow some of Justin Bieber&#8217;s focus.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Arm:  </strong>So some of my dreams and goals could come true</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Top of Head:  </strong>That would be a good thing.  I&#8217;m open to that.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Eyebrow:  </strong>And what about feeling.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Side of Eye:  </strong>What if I could feel a little more deeply</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Eye:  </strong>Be a little more open to the messages of my emotions?</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Nose:  </strong>I know people like to feel connected</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Chin:  </strong>People like to know you care</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Collarbone:  </strong>People like to feel loved</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Arm:  </strong>So what if I could borrow a little of that connection from Justin Beiber?</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Top of Head:  </strong>He really knows how to show people he cares about them.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Eyebrow:  </strong>He knows how to show feeling and affection.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Side of Eye:  </strong>I&#8217;m open to borrowing some of his feeling.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Eye:  </strong>Now foolishness?</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Nose: </strong>Isn&#8217;t this going a little too far?</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Chin:  </strong>Why would I want to be foolish?</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Collarbone:  </strong>Justin was foolish to run up to Usher and ask to sing for him.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Arm:  </strong>Usher became his mentor.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Top of Head:  </strong>Justin was foolish to announce he could sell out Madison Square Garden.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Eyebrow:  </strong>He did it &#8211; in 22 minutes.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Side of Eye:  </strong>He was foolish to put his amateurish videos on YouTube</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Eye:  </strong>Which got him a record contract</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Nose:  </strong>And a national tour</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Chin:  </strong>He was foolish enough to sing his song for dozens of DJs</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Collarbone:  </strong>who had never heard of Justin Bieber</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Arm:  </strong>And tweet about it</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Top of Head:  </strong>Which got hundreds of girls showing up at the radio stations</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Eyebrow:  </strong>Showing the DJs he already had a following</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Side of Eye:  </strong>Maybe I&#8217;d like to step out and be a little more foolish</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Eye:  </strong>Like Justin Bieber</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Under Nose:  </strong>Maybe foolish is what it takes to announce to the world,</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Chin:  </strong>&#8220;I believe in myself.&#8221;</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Collarbone:  </strong>&#8220;I&#8217;m willing to do what it takes to make this happen.&#8221;</em></p>

		<title>Goal Congruence &#8211; My Great Niece and Her Volleyball Team</title>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>Talk about goal congruence &#8211; I witnessed it firsthand yesterday.</p>
<p>I was inspired yesterday by the obvious total congruency of goals with life, when I watched my great niece Bailey, play volleyball with her T-Street team.</p>
<p>They played three matches, each consisting of a maximum of three games.  They only had to play two games in each match, because they beat their opponents in the first two games each time.</p>
<p>These girls know what they want.  They know why they want it.  They play as a team, all supporting each other. In turn, they are supported by the club, their families and by their coach.</p>
<p>This is a living example of Vision Powered Goals.  I&#8217;ve written about this in <a href="http://efttappingtechniques.com/overcome-procrastination/dont-set-goals-what-to-do-when-goals-dont-work/" target="_blank">Dont Set Goals</a>.</p>

<p>It was so fun to watch Bailey play.  She&#8217;s an excellent athlete.</p>
<p>But more importantly, she&#8217;s a happy and loving person.  I marveled at the connection the team feels for each other and the way they play.  They are each totally confident of the skills of everyone else on the team.</p>
<p>There is no showmanship or hogging the limelight.  They play as a true team &#8211; and they WIN!</p>
<p>I&#8217;m so proud of my great-niece.  She&#8217;s talented and loving. (Asked me how far I drove to see her play &#8211; an hour and a half).</p>

<p>I remember a women&#8217;s group I was in some years ago.</p>
<p>Each January we&#8217;d meet to state our new goals and review the ones we&#8217;d set the previous year.  The last year I was in the group, I asked that we skip our the goal setting, because it hurt me too much to look at all the wonderful goals I&#8217;d set the year before that hadn&#8217;t come to pass.</p>
<p>This year, things feel very different for me.</p>
<p><strong>First</strong>, I have EFT to help me remove the blocks that cause me to avoid things, give up or procrastinate.  I can identify my various blocks and tap through them.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve learned <a title="How to discover your negative core beliefs" href="http://efttappingtechniques.com/beliefs/how-to-discover-your-negative-core-beliefs-2/" target="_blank">how to discover your negative core beliefs</a>, so changing them is more possible for me.</p>
<p>I especially like know <a title="How to change your beliefs" href="http://efttappingtechniques.com/beliefs/how-to-change-your-beliefs-by-warping-them-with-eft/" target="_blank">how to change your beliefs</a> using  the handy Belief Flip method.</p>
<p><strong>Second</strong>, I have a great coach who is teaching me, inspiring me, guiding and supporting me to make the best decisions for my life and my business.  Finding and working with a good coach is worth every penny.</p>
<p><strong>Third, </strong>I have the goal setting template taught by Pamela Moss, helping me get <a title="Goal Congruence" href="http://efttappingtechniques.com/beliefs/goal-congruence-great-niece-and-volleyball-team/" target="_blank">goal congruence</a>.</p>

<p>Pamela teaches a beautifully <a href="http://www.growyourdreamsnow.com/NHoptin" target="_blank">expanded version of this process in her work</a>. But in a nutshell, here&#8217;s what you do:</p>
<h3>Goal Setting Template</h3>
<p>1. Pick one and write specific description of your intention, expressed as “I am” statement with words of appreciation like “grateful”, “excited”  “ready to receive” “delighted to be attracting” &#8220;thrilled&#8221;.</p>
<p><strong>I am + appreciation words + specific result(s) + from doing specific project or activity or practice.</strong></p>
<blockquote><p><em>I am so grateful that I am now allowing my mind and body to remain calm, relaxed and energized when I work.</em></p></blockquote>
<p>2. Add sentence that expresses how feels to fulfill this desire and help others, or why you want this:</p>
<p><strong>I feel x, y, and z knowing that this helps others in specific ways </strong>or <strong>I feel x, y and z when I have this goal because . . .</strong></p>
<blockquote><p><em>I feel secure, confident and optimistic, knowing that when I&#8217;m calm, the work I do is more inspired, more wise and will have a much more positive and Divinely inspired impact on my students and clients.  </em></p></blockquote>
<p>3. Add sentence(s) about the ‘<strong>noble intentio</strong>n’ or purpose of this desire for you, those around you, and any connected to it.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">a. <strong>why you want this – your </strong><strong>noble intention</strong> for goal or desire</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">b. <strong>how will help/impact those around you</strong> (family, friends, workplace, community&#8230;)</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">c. <strong>how anyone who connects with it will be impacted</strong> (future readers, clients, customers, followers&#8230;)</p>
<blockquote><p><em>My noble intention is to help as many others as possible break free of the inner blocks that keep them stuck, scared and small and allow them to realize and express their unique purpose on earth, helping to uplift everyone in their circle of influence.  </em></p></blockquote>

<p>I answer this question by explaining how you tap to clear the negative impact of a disturbing event using EFT, or Emotional Freedom tapping.</p>
<p>In this video, I use the example of a client of mine I call Terry.  Terry was triggered by a supervisor in her job.  The trigger made Terry feel terror and rage when she interacted with her supervisor, and especially when Terry saw her supervisor&#8217;s eyebrows move into a certain position.</p>
<p>When I explored what might be the original cause of the upset Terry was experiencing today, Terry remembered an incident when she was three.  She was awake early on the weekend.  Her parents had told her she had to be quiet and avoid waking them up in the morning.</p>
<p>So Terry got the inspiration to make a crayon drawing.  So she did.</p>
<p>Right on the wall next to her bed.  She was so proud!</p>
<p>Her father, however, was enraged when he saw her drawing and yell at and spank Terry.</p>
<p>By tapping, we were able to neutralize the trauma from the event and release the trigger Terry felt when she saw her supervisor&#8217;s eyebrows.</p>
<p>We were also able to discover and transform the limiting beliefs Terry formed during the incident &#8211; beliefs that have continued to limit her throughout her life.</p>
<p>This is the power of EFT and how you can get emotional freedom from tapping.</p>
<p>I hope you&#8217;ll understand why I couldn&#8217;t simply answer the original question in this YouTube EFT video &#8211; how long do I tap on one subject.  Since the answer lies in much more than how long to tap.</p>

<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>What if I am worth the risk of doing new things?</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>What if my life is worth it?</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>I&#8217;d like to think of Thomas Edison and how many times he tried a new way to make a light bulb.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>Of the people who designed the space shuttle, the rocket that went to the moon.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>Everything about that was new.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>I&#8217;d like to remind myself that I know how to talk and walk and ride a bicycle.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>Those were all new things to me at one time.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>I tried making new sounds and saying new words and I learned to talk.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>Same with walking and riding a bicycle.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>Maybe I&#8217;m pretty good at trying new things after all.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>And what about when I fly to a new city?</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>I arrive in the airport and it&#8217;s all new.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>I&#8217;ve never been there before, never seen those signs and corridors before</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>And I manage just fine.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>I&#8217;m beginning to realize that I&#8217;m actually pretty brave at trying new things.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>And good at it too.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>So I&#8217;d like to change some of my beliefs and programming around new things.</em></p>
<p>Take a deep breath.</p>
<p><strong>Karate Chop again</strong></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>Even though there&#8217;s that part of me, with the job of keeping me safe and alive</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>and it&#8217;s telling me to Be Careful, to Watch Out, and You&#8217;ve Never Done That Before, You Might Make a Mistake,</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>I&#8217;m willing to let that part of me have it&#8217;s say, and say &#8221; You, I know you&#8217;re trying to keep me safe,</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>I can try this new thing and still be safe. </em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>I need your advice when it&#8217;s truly a life and death situation, but not now, not for this. </em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>So keep quiet now and leave me alone. </em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>Even though I learned as a little kid that I have to Be Careful and That Can Hurt Me and I Need Other&#8217;s Approval, I also learned that I can make lots of mistakes and that&#8217;s the way I learned to walk and talk and ride a bike and it all turned out pretty good. </em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>Even though part of me&#8217;s still afraid to try new things, another part of me wants to.  And I&#8217;m rooting for that part!</em></p>

<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>I&#8217;d like to trust that I can figure new stuff out.</em></p>

<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>And it&#8217;s better to get out there, doing new things than to sit still, be safe, and never change, never step into the possibility of the life I want</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>What if I can trust that whatever happens, I&#8217;ll be ok. </em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>Because I&#8217;m strong</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>And resiliant</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>And creative</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>And I have all that experience of falling and getting back up and trying again when I learned to walk and to ride a bicycle. </em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>What if I could see myself at quite good at trying new things</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>And feeling good about myself no matter what</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>Seeing my mistakes and failures as evidence that I&#8217;m trying new things</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>And learning and growing and stretching into the person and the life that I want</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>What if I could see difficulties as happy challenges, intriguing problems to solve?</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>What if I could see failures as feedback, helping me grow. </em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>And I like to grow. </em></p>

<p>Either it feels like way too much of a stretch, or it seems impossible, or you can&#8217;t imagine how it could come to be.</p>
<p>But you still want it.</p>
<p><strong>I created this script because I need it right now myself.</strong></p>
<p>I&#8217;m getting a ride from Scottsdale to Tucson, Arizona today, where I plan to live for the winter.</p>
<p>Tucson is NOT made for public transport (and I don&#8217;t see myself bicycling everywhere I want to go).</p>
<p>So I want to buy a car &#8211; a used one for under $5000.</p>
<p><strong>But I don&#8217;t have an extra $5000 right now.</strong></p>
<p>(wishing I hadn&#8217;t sold my truck when I left the US last year).</p>
<p><strong>I wrote this script for both of us. </strong></p>
<p>To help me open the possibility of getting a car and to help you open the possibility of getting whatever it is you want right now.</p>

<p>You&#8217;ve learned a clever and <a title="Warp beliefs with EFT" href="http://efttappingtechniques.com/beliefs/how-to-change-your-beliefs-by-warping-them-with-eft/" target="_blank">quick way to Warp those beliefs</a>, so you don&#8217;t believe them so much any more.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ve implemented the way to <a title="Implant alternative belief" href="http://efttappingtechniques.com/beliefs/change-a-belief-select-your-alternative/" target="_blank">implant Alternative beliefs</a>, of your choosing, into your belief system.</p>
<p><strong>Now, I&#8217;ll teach you how to Patrol</strong>, to watch for evidence your new beliefs have taken root, or for evidence that more SWAPping needs to be done.</p>

<h3>Here are the ways to gather evidence that your belief SWAP work worked:</h3>
<p>1.  <strong>Emotions</strong>:  What emotions do you FEEL when you think your new belief?  How do you feel when things happen that would have triggered an emotional response before?</p>
<p>2.  <strong>Body</strong>:  What sensations do you notice in your body when you think your new belief?  When happens in your body when former triggers happen?</p>
<p>3. <strong>Speech</strong>:  What do you hear yourself saying related to the beliefs in question?</p>
<p>4.  <strong>Actions</strong>:  How do you notice yourself acting related to the beliefs in question?</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s take a closer look at each of these four areas.</p>
<h3>Emotions</h3>
<p>Your emotional response is one of the easiest and most obvious to observe (at least for me!).</p>
<p>Probably, your emotions around the old belief were your main indicator that something wasn&#8217;t working.  Your upsetting emotions made you want to change the belief in the first place.</p>
<p>How can you observe your emotional response?</p>
<p>You can get all scientific and write down your old belief and some things that previously triggered upsets.  Then notice what emotions you feel with similar triggers.</p>
<p>Or, you can do what I do.  Just <strong>be on the lookout for upsetting emotions</strong>.</p>
<p>When you feel one, look for the belief that triggered the emotion (This is the beginning of Freedom &#8211; realizing that it&#8217;s not what other do or say, it&#8217;s not the circumstances in your life that make you upset.  It&#8217;s your own beliefs, expectations, unresolved trauma.  It&#8217;s what&#8217;s inside YOU that causes your reactions and your upsets)</p>
<p>And when you feel upset, just do more SWAP work.</p>
<p>Since <a title="The Warp Process" href="http://efttappingtechniques.com/beliefs/how-to-change-your-beliefs-by-warping-them-with-eft/">the Warp process</a> can be done in 60 to 90 seconds, including fishing around for the belief, this work is super quick.</p>
<p>So, if you feel your emotions strongly, like me, let your emotions be your guide. When you feel upset, look for the source in the form of a belief.</p>
<p>Warp the belief so you begin to see other possibilities and don&#8217;t hold the former belief so strongly.</p>
<p><strong>This work is quick.  </strong></p>
<p>The more you do it, the easier, more happy your life wil become.  And you&#8217;ll experience less of the things that get in your way of happiness and ease.</p>
<h3>Body</h3>
<p>Emotions are actually felt in the body.  The <strong>physical sensations are your messages that you&#8217;re having an emotion</strong>.</p>
<p>Other sensations include any kind of pain, compression, pressure, tightness.</p>
<p>Consider these as messages from the body.</p>
<p>In a quiet state, you can think a belief and notice the physical response.  This physical test can be used on beliefs you judge to be &#8220;negative&#8221; or &#8220;positive.&#8221;</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s say you are working on substituting the belief &#8220;I am a good person,&#8221; for your old belief, &#8220;I&#8217;m no good.&#8221;</p>
<p>Sit quietly and tune into your body.  Say aloud, or silently, &#8220;I am a good person.&#8221;  Notice what happens.  If your mind body system doesn&#8217;t agree with that statement, you&#8217;ll feel something.</p>
<p>It could be <strong>compression, tightness, pressure, faster heart beat</strong> &#8211; something.  These are all indications of an emotional charge to the statement.</p>
<p>Try the other statement, &#8220;I&#8217;m no good.&#8221;  Again, watch for an internal reaction.</p>
<p>You are using your body like a lie detector.  If an uplifting statement is true for you, you&#8217;ll either feel no response, or you&#8217;ll feel a release of restriction, a lighter feeling.</p>
<h3><strong>Speech</strong></h3>
<p>For the speech test, notice the things you say, as they relate to your new belief.  If you hear yourself <strong>supporting the old belief</strong>, you know you still have work to do.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re hearing a new story, a more empowered one &#8211; you know you&#8217;ve made a positive change.</p>
<h3><strong>Actions</strong></h3>
<p><strong></strong>Here&#8217;s an easy and beneficial way to observe your actions, to see if they are responding to your belief change work.</p>
<p>At the end of each day, <strong>before going to sleep,</strong> take a brief look back over your day.</p>
<p>Look for 3 things you feel good about or proud of.  Look for ways you are living the way you want to live. Recall each one and mentally say to yourself something like, &#8220;You are doing such a great job!  Nice growth.  I approve of you!&#8221;</p>
<p>I do this last thing as I&#8217;m dropping off to sleep.  It has the added benefit of <strong>helping you sleep better</strong>, since you are ending your conscious day on a loving, approving note, which follow your unconscious into sleep.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s an example of how I used this whole technique recently regarding an incident I had with the man I rented a room from.</p>
<h3>Personal Example of Using the SWAP Process to Change Beliefs</h3>
<p>He told me he&#8217;d set an appointment for someone to come see my room at 3:00.  (I was moving out.)</p>
<p>His simple announcement triggered anger and resentment in me, and a feeling of not being respected or considered (I work with private clients via phone and he didn&#8217;t ask me in advance if it would be a good time to show my room.)</p>
<p>I was so upset by this, that I knew what was being triggered was actually a much larger, earlier issue.</p>
<p>But, using tapping on the beliefs of the current event can have a far-reaching healing effect, going way back to childhood.</p>
<p>I asked myself what belief was under my anger, resentment and sense of not being respected.  I came up with:  <em>Marshall (not his real name) doesn&#8217;t care about me.</em></p>
<p>I did the belief flip method on that belief and looked inside again.  I noticed another belief . . . and another.  I kept flipping beliefs all while taking a walk.</p>
<p>Here are the beliefs I flipped (or something very close).</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>Marshall never considers my needs.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>I&#8217;m not important.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>I&#8217;m not worthy of respect.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>To feel safe, I need my needs to be considered.</em></p>
<p>(I may have changed the wording of some a little to make them easier to flip &#8211; that&#8217;s perfectly ok to do.)</p>
<p>After tapping each belief, I could feel a <strong>reduction in emotional intensity</strong> and a slight shift to a new frame of mind.</p>
<p>I didn&#8217;t even do the <a title="Tapping in a new alternative" href="http://efttappingtechniques.com/beliefs/change-a-belief-select-your-alternative/" target="_blank">Alternative step of tapping in a new empowering frame of mind</a>.</p>
<p>By the time I got back from my walk, I felt a strong need to say something to him, but I <strong>felt gentle about it</strong>, a sense of ease.</p>
<p>I simply stopped by his desk and said that it might be more convenient for him if he checked with me before setting an appointment to show my room.  That way if I have a client, he won&#8217;t be inconvenienced by having to wait for me.</p>
<p><strong>I felt calm and friendly toward him</strong> as I spoke.  I saw him as innocent instead of threatening, which he&#8217;d seemed to me just one hour before.</p>
<p>He said he&#8217;d forgotten that I asked him to do that, and would in the future.  It was a friendly and easy exchange &#8211; totally different from what it would have been had I spoken to him when I felt angry, resentful and scared.</p>
<h3>SWAP tapping works for Belief Change on many levels.</h3>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">1.  You&#8217;ll recognize an emotional upset that was triggered by your limiting beliefs</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">2. You warp the beliefs so they no longer caused you distress regarding the situation or incident (or your distress will be reduced).  This will also mean that you&#8217;ll be less likely to be triggered by similar events in the future.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">3. Your actions are more likely to create peace and understanding &#8211; and showed evidence that you&#8217;ve made an internal shift.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>The SWAP process is an extremely powerful method for detecting and transforming the beliefs that cause you to feel upset, scared, angry, guilty, ashamed or resentful.</strong></p>
<p>I find the process quicker to make change than the full EFT process and often, even more powerful.</p>

<p><strong>There are 2 major mistakes we tend to make</strong> — and they drain away our energy and joy each day.</p>
<p>They both involve tolerating conditions that really bother us.</p>
<p>My friend and former client Martha came over recently and pointed out an irony I’ve long tried to ignore: “Pam, you’re all about light and clarity in your work, and yet you live in a dark and cluttered house. What’s up with that?”</p>
<p><strong>I could feel my face flush</strong>, like I’d been caught doing something nasty.</p>
<p>And, I realized, it IS nasty to live in conditions that pull me down every single day, when my work is about lifting people up — especially when I tell myself it’s the fault of my family members that I ‘have to’ live like this. (Then I resent these people I love, and feel hopeless…) <strong>Yuck!</strong></p>
<p><strong>Amazing what we’ll tolerate until something wakes us up . . . </strong></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong></strong>. . . Only then do we realize it&#8217;s true cost in lost energy, lost love (sorry family!), and lost joy (a cluttered environment makes me feel grumpy and anxious).</p>
<p>And only that realization gives us the courage to finally DO SOMETHING about it.</p>
<p>Thanks to Martha, I’m finally <strong>doing something about the clutter</strong> and darkness that’ve been bugging me for over 9 years – getting rid of boxes of stuff we don’t need, reorganizing, letting more light in, and creating a beautiful, inspiring home office to work with my local clients.</p>
<p>It feels so liberating, I can’t believe I waited so long!</p>
<h2>So what are you tolerating in YOUR life?</h2>
<p>What is draining your energy and joy, and leaving you feeling uninspired, tired, overwhelmed, irritable, or hopeless?</p>
<p><strong>Two places to look:</strong></p>
<h3><strong>Mistake # 1: accepting intolerable (for you) conditions around you</strong></h3>
<p>Examples:  Clutter in your home or work space (if you don’t love it &amp;/or use it, it’s clutter); a job or relationship that stiffles you; no time in your schedule to nourish yourself with reflection, pleasure, and rest; lack of support or negativity from people around you</p>
<h3><strong>Mistake #2: accepting intolerable (for you) conditions in you</strong></h3>
<p>Examples:  judgmental thoughts about yourself or others; emotions of anxiety, envy, guilt, shame, or self-pity; health problems; build-up of stress and lack of self-care/ways to manage it</p>
<h2>Now, what can you do about it?</h2>
<p>Usually the answer involves <strong>getting the support you need</strong> to make the changes you want. If I hadn’t hired Martha, I would still be stuck with huge amounts of clutter and living and work spaces that drain my energy. I’m so grateful for her fresh vision and do-able steps!</p>
<p>You probably know it’s important to surround yourself with people who support and inspire you, and <strong>bring out the best in you</strong> — people who see new possibilities where you see only energy drains and frustration.</p>
<p>Unfortunately those closest to you, <strong>your family and friends, usually can’t do this</strong>. (Typically they’re part of the problem, and can only add friction and drama to your sense of overwhelm.)</p>
<p>The support you desire is more likely to come in the form of <strong>mentors or coaches</strong> who “get you” and truly have your best interest at heart.</p>
<p>I personally have a decluttering/interior redesign coach (Martha Kinney), a spiritual coach (Ravi Walsh), and two business mastermind groups that I belong to.</p>
<p>I wouldn’t be where I am without them.</p>
<p><strong>So choose wisely!</strong></p>
<p>Be very discerning about where you invest your precious time and energy.</p>
<p><strong>Stop tolerating conditions and relationships that don’t work.</strong></p>
<p>Begin to invest more time with people who feed and inspire you, and less time with those who don’t — in every area of your life.</p>
<p>Your life will quickly change for the better!</p>
