EFT for Depression

Want to learn EFT and tapping techniques for depression?  You can use EFT for depression as one tool in becoming a healthier, happier you. 

Here are three that I’ve found to be very effective.

Caution:  For all cases of depression, consult with a health practitioner first. 

1. Brainwashing Your Blues

When you brainwash your mind, you implant or suggest ideas that slip past the conscious gatekeepers.  

Your conscious mind doesn’t notice what’s slipping past.  You end up with a different attitude or belief system without consciously realizing it’s happening. 

Here’s how positive brainwashing can work with tapping.

When you’ve got the blues, or you’re feeling depressed, you can feel very resistant to doing anything good for yourself.  

Depression is a low energy state so it can be hard to drum up the energy to do anything good for yourself.  This type of tapping takes all that into consideration. 

Use each statement 8 times, by tapping it on the same statement at each of the 8 points.  Finish each statement in a different way at each point.

Here are some good possibilities and feel free to make up your own. 

If I felt a little positive right now, I might think . . . 

If I was feeling a little energy right now, I might have the energy to . . .

If I could feel encouraged right now, I might encourage myself by . . .

If I felt even a tiny bit of gratitude right now, I might feel gratitude for . . .

Here’s an example of how this might go for the energy statements.

EFT Tapping Points

Eyebrow:  If I was feeling a little energy right now, I might have the energy to take a shower. 

Side of Eye:  If I was feeling a little energy right now, I might have the energy to walk around the house. 

Under Eye:  If I was feeling a little energy right now, I might have the energy to spend five minutes tidying up this room. 

Under Nose:  If I was feeling a little energy right now, I might have the energy to clean off the kitchen counter.

Chin:  If I was feeling a little energy right now, I might have the energy to play some uplifting music. 

Collarbone:  If I was feeling a little energy right now, I might have the energy to watch an inspiring Youtube video. 

Under Arm:  If I was feeling a little energy right now, I might have the energy to stretch for 2 minutes. 

Top of Head:  If I was feeling a little energy right now, I might have the energy to call a friend. 

It’s good to imagine only baby steps of movement from where you currently are – to prevent refusing to do anything at all. Make your “I might . . .” statements take you one small step in a positive direction. 

2.  Conscious Complaining

Conscious complaining is one of the delicious EFT and tapping techniques because it gives you full permission to be negative.  

You get to whine, vent, gripe, bitch, complain, swear and hold everyone and everything responsible for your pain. 

The critical hitch here is that you must do your complaining while tapping. 

So go ahead and give voice to all that’s bugging you, all you’re blaming, all you’re scared of, pissed at, resentful of.  

Just do it while you tap.  

It can help to write a nice long List of Complaints and then tap those.  If you haven’t done this before, you’ll be absolutely amazed at how much better you feel after writing, then tapping your list. 

Whenever I take the time to do this, then tap through my list, I feel SO MUCH BETTER – and I think you will too. 

3.  No Way Am I Feeling Better Tapping

Oh, my gosh, this one’s sinfully fun too.  You get to return the terrible twos or that obstinate teenager stage. 

You basically REFUSE to feel better, think better or improve your life in any way while tapping.  That’s why I sometimes call this Refusal Tapping.

Here’s a tapping script you can use

I don’t even WANT to feel better. 

Maybe I LIKE being depressed. 

I feel good feeling bad. 

I might not recognize myself if I was happy or energized. 

I’m staying depressed for as long as I want. 

So there!

I refuse to feel better.

I’m not doing it.

You can’t make me.

You’re not my boss.

I don’t have to do this.

I’m doing exactly what I want.

I’ll never listen to you.

When I’ve been mildly depressed, these three EFT and Tapping techniques have shaken me out of the blues.  But remember, if you’re severely depressed, or have been depressed for over a couple of days, get help from a professional.
